After attending several training sessions since 2016 with Ashihara Karate International headmaster, Kaicho Hoosain Narker, Tesfu Goshu and others decided to commit themselves fully to introduce this full contact based style to Ethiopia.

In December of 2019, Tesfu Goshu and Negash Girma travelled to Cape Town, South Africa and spent two weeks training several sessions a day under Kaicho and other senior instructors at the AKI Honbu Dojo. During this time, they also attended the Ashihara Karate Summer Camp meeting other instructors of different styles.
